Again, Bruce Schneier offers an interesting article on how America is a step behind in security. The title reveals the thesis. " We might be better off as a nation funding intelligence gathering and Arabic translators, but it's a better re-election strategy to fund something visible but ineffective, like a national ID card or a wall between the U.S. and Mexico."
I am not against building a wall, but a national id card is definitely the wrong way to go.
Regardless, Schneier's article is a worthy contribution to the debate.
